Consuming one gram (1000 mg) of any oil whether it is olive oil, or from a source of saturated animal fat, provides 10 calories. Therefore, consuming the 23 grams/day suggested by the FDA without reducing an equal amount of saturated fat (animal fat) would add 230 calories to your diet and cause you to gain weight.
